Pakistan PM says 'all hell' will break loose if debt deal not reached

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif fears that all hell will break loose if a debt deal is not reached to aid the flood-stricken country as the threat of epidemics looms large. More than 1,400 people have been killed and 33 million affected by record flooding and monsoon rains which battered the country in recent months, and also caused devastation in neighbouring Afghanistan. Recovery is estimated to cost at least $30 billion. In an interview with Bloomberg in New York, where he was scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on Friday, Mr Sharif said he had spoken to European leaders and creditor nations to secure a moratorium on debt, some of which is due in the next two months. “Unless we get substantial relief, how can the world expect from us to stand on our own feet?" he said. Switzerland 'ignored risks faced by Pakistani Christian in asylum case'

 Switzerland has been told to pay nearly €7,000 to a Christian convert from Islam because it failed to assess the risk to his life if he was sent back to Pakistan following an unsuccessful asylum claim. A European court ruled that the authorities would violate the rights to life and to avoid torture or degrading treatment if they sent the man — identified only as M.A.M — back to Pakistan after seven years in Switzerland. The man first claimed asylum in Switzerland in 2015 after claiming that a local family had tried to kill him following a land dispute in Pakistan. He moved between different refugee centres in the Alpine nation and was baptised the following year after attending different Christian places of worship, according to a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights. He was joined only by a pastor at his asylum hearing and did not have a lawyer throughout the asylum process, it said. India rejects Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's remarks on Kashmir

 New Delhi has rebuked China over its comments on the disputed region of Kashmir, saying Beijing has no right to comment on the “internal matters” of India. The Indian Foreign Ministry said it “rejected” the remarks on Kashmir by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the opening of a meeting of Organisation of Islamic Co-operation foreign ministers in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad. Mr Wang, who was a special guest at the two-day meeting that began on Tuesday, said Beijing “shares the same aspirations” as other Islamic nations over the Kashmir issue, prompting a sharp reaction from New Delhi.
