Twitter to change logo, 'bye to all the birds,' says Elon Musk

Image
Elon Musk tweeted, "And soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds". Elon Musk.  Elon Musk on Sunday suggested his decision to change Twitter’s logo. He tweeted, saying: “And soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds”. Reuters referred to Musk’s post on the site at 12.06 am ET (0406 GMT), and added, the social media platform’s billionaire owner added: “If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make (it) go live worldwide tomorrow.” According to NDTV, the billionaire has had the name ‘X’ on his mind for some time now. Musk bought Twitter last year for $44 billion and merged the company into an entity called X Corp. While welcoming new CEO Linda Yaccarino in April, he had tweeted, “Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app”. NDTV recalled that in October, he had said, “Buying Twitter is an accelerant to creating X, the everything app”. Musk’s remark, accordi...

Judge delays Twitter and Elon Musk trial to allow $44bn deal to close

Image
A Delaware judge halted a court case against Tesla chief executive Elon Musk over his proposed $44 billion purchase of Twitter, giving the parties more time to complete the deal. Delaware Chancery Judge Kathaleen McCormick said if the transaction was not done by 5pm local time on October 28, she would set new trial dates in November, according to an order issued Thursday. The ruling hands a partial victory to Mr Musk, who earlier in the day had asked the judge to pause Twitter’s lawsuit against him before an October 17 trial date. But it also gives the billionaire a deadline by which he needs to make good on his April agreement to pay $54.20 a share — an obligation he previously tried to abandon. Shares in San Francisco-based Twitter rose by as much as 3.5 per cent in late trading after the judge’s ruling, a sign of optimism that the order gives Twitter some of the certainty it was seeking. Acrimony between the parties escalated Thursday, with both sides trading barbs in court filings....

Doubt about spam accounts could scuttle Twitter deal, says Elon Musk

Image
Tesla CEO Elon Musk says his deal to buy Twitter can't move forward unless the company shows public proof that less than 5 per cent of the accounts on the social media platform are fake or spam. Musk made the comment in a reply to another user on Twitter early Tuesday. He spent much of the previous day in a back-and-forth with Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal, who posted a series of tweets explaining his company's effort to fight bots and how it has consistently estimated that less than 5 per cent of Twitter accounts are fake. In his tweet Tuesday, Musk said that 20 per cent fake/spam accounts, while 4 times what Twitter claims, could be much higher. My offer was based on Twitter's SEC filings being accurate. Elon Musk says Tesla on his mind 24/7 amid investor concerns about Twitter deal

Image
Billionaire businessman Elon Musk said Tesla is on his mind “24/7" in a bid to soothe investor concerns that he is being distracted by his $44 billion Twitter acquisition deal, which has weighed on the stock price of the world's largest electric vehicle maker that he runs. “To be clear, I’m spending 5 per cent (but actually) of my time on the Twitter acquisition. It ain’t rocket science!” the world’s richest person tweeted to his 94.1 million followers on Thursday. “Yesterday was Giga Texas, today is Starbase. Tesla is on my mind 24/7.” To be clear, I’m spending <5% (but actually) of my time on the Twitter acquisition. It ain’t rocket science! Yesterday was Giga Texas, today is Starbase. Tesla is on my mind 24/7. So may seem like below, but not true. pic.twitter.com/CXfWiLD2f8 — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 19, 2022 Tesla opened its new car factory in Texas this year, and Mr Musk’s rocket company SpaceX has a launch site known as Starbase in Boca Chica, Texas. Elon Musk fans solicit future Twitter jobs by tweeting at him

Image
Although Elon Musk’s $44 billion deal to acquire Twitter is still months away from closing, some of Mr Musk’s fans are soliciting future employment at the social media platform via the mercurial entrepreneur’s Twitter feed. Considerable turnover is likely, at least based on Mr Musk’s Twitter feed, which is often critical of leadership. So Mr Musk’s followers are taking their shot. “Hire me to run Twitter as VP of Product,” wrote Nikita Bier, co-founder of a positivity-focused polling app called tbh that was acquired by Meta Platforms, in a post tagging Mr Musk on Twitter. “I’ve been building social apps for 11 years – and not in a way that leads products to decay like a typical BigTech ‘product director dad.’” . @elonmusk Hire me to run Twitter as VP of Product. I’ve been building social apps for 11 years—and not in a way that leads products to decay like a typical BigTech “product director dad.” Twitter has the potential to be the leading messenger, groups app & content creation ...

Elon Musk bonds with a chosen Twitter few on anniversary of Tesla tweets escapade

Image
On April 20 every year, part of the internet lights up for Elon Musk. The Tesla founder is more willing than some – such as Donald Trump – to interact with followers and trolls on Twitter. And on this date, he bonds with a chosen few of his fans on the platform. Known as 4/20 in America, it is a reference to one of the inventor's most notorious escapades. Critics allege that a series of tweets in 2018 about having the money to take Tesla private at $420 per share were written to manipulate the stock price, costing shareholders money. The figure is linked to US slang for cannabis and triggered regulatory censure. Ordinarily, the South African-born magnate is known as one the world’s most savvy users of social media — sometimes sophisticated, sometimes not — but his conversations contribute to a devoted loyalty among his fans. Among Mr Musk's army of 82 million Twitter followers are a relative few with whom he regularly interacts, often because they are customers, investors and ...
